Donna begins the process of making one of these pieces with just a lump of raw clay. She uses her hands and a wheel to mold the clay into a functional shape. Once she’s thrown the shape she desires, she fires it once to cone 04 in her kiln, where temperatures get has hot as 1943 degrees F. Once this first firing is complete, she uses natural, food-safe glazes to add a layer of color. She fires it once more, this time to cone 6, where the kiln will reach 2232 degrees F. This creates her final product: a beautiful and functional work of stoneware. Donna’s pottery is dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, oven-safe, and durable.
